The Analysis Dashboard

Once you have imported, explored, and annotated your data, you will likely want to extract quantitative insights and visualize patterns across your corpus. DATS provides a suite of advanced analytical tools specifically designed for this purpose.

The gateway to all of these tools is the Analysis Dashboard.

Accessing the Dashboard

  1. Look at the main left navigation bar.
  2. Click the Analysis icon (the chart symbol 📊).
  3. This will open the Analysis Dashboard in your central workspace.

The Analysis Dashboard provides quick access to all quantitative and qualitative evaluation tools.

Overview of Analytical Tools

The dashboard is designed as a simple launchpad. It displays a grid of boxes, with each box representing a distinct analytical feature.

Clicking on any of these boxes will open that specific tool in a new tab in your Top Tab Bar, allowing you to run multiple analyses side-by-side or switch back to your reading and annotation views without losing your place.

The following tools can be accessed from this dashboard:

  • 📊 Code Frequency Analysis: Visualize how often specific codes from your Codebook have been applied across your corpus, filterable by modality and user.
  • 📈 Timeline Analysis: Track the evolution of custom concepts over time to uncover discursive shifts, narrative peaks, and historical trends.
  • ☁️ Word Frequency Analysis: Generate statistical word counts and customizable word clouds to quickly identify dominant vocabulary.
  • 🗄️ Annotation Tables: Access highly filterable, comprehensive lists of every Span, Sentence, and Bounding Box annotation in your project for bulk review and editing.
  • 🧠 Concept-over-Time Analysis (COTA): An advanced, AI-assisted extension of the Timeline tool that iteratively refines complex thematic concepts.

(Each of these tools is covered in detail in the following sections).
